Water Yourself

When you hear the word hydrate, what do you think of? How about your body and skin?  Most people are knowledgeable enough about the human body and know that the human body is composed of a high percentage of water. But, many people don’t realize the health benefits of hydration and the effect it has on your body and skin.

Drinking water everyday has many health benefits. It aids in digestion, it keeps your joints, organs, and tissues functioning, and also has amazing all natural benefits for your skin. Yes, your skin!  If your diet consists of strictly coffee, tea, soda’s or even juices, you are not giving your body and skin the hydration it needs.

Without proper hydration your skin can look dull, it will be dry, and it can also promote larger pores and wrinkles. It’s amazing to see the changes in your skin over a very short period of time just by cutting out some of the unhealthy liquids and replacing it with good clean water.

I myself was addicted to diet-Coke. I’m not gonna lie or sugar coat– diet “stroke” as my friend would say! As a single mom, working, going to school and raising two kids, I devoured diet-Coke in huge quantities on a daily basis. The caffeine was my fuel. The  bubbling sensation in my throat gave me tingles. I was definitely addicted to it. My morning drink was diet coke, not to mention the 4 cans I drank at work everyday and then, of course, I would go to bed with one on my night table.

Fortunately, while I attended college as an adult, I was assigned a project to quit one thing in your life. I had to do this over the course of a semester, and document my progress along the way and then at the end write a paper focused on addiction. I succeeded in deleting diet-Coke from my life, first by slowly weaning on to flavored seltzer water (for the bubbly’s) then switching over to regular water.

The health benefits have astronomically changed my life. I’m no longer fueled by caffeine and my body and skin are glowing from being properly hydrated and not full of the garbage that soda is made from. People actually comment on how healthy my skin looks.

Take a peek online and do a little research and you will find many articles and advice about the benefits of drinking water and staying hydrated. As with anything else body related, consult your doctor if you’re going to be making any sudden drastic changes, especially if you have health issues. But, most importantly water yourself and stay healthy, happy and glowing!

Dang Girl, You Are Beautiful!

Dang girl, you are beautiful!….

It’s a wonderful thing to have a manfriend, boyfriend, fiancé, husband who thinks you are the most beautiful woman that ever lived!  Right!?  And even better when he tells you…Often.  But remember girl…. He is NOT your barometer.  It is NOT his job to make you feel beautiful.  And do NOT make it his job.  He’s the icing in your life, not the cake.

Finding and proclaiming your beauty is an inside job!!  Yup…that’s what I said.  An inside job!  It’s for you to do.  It’s for you to claim, to affirm, to wear like a leather glove that offers warm goosebumps to the flesh on an icy morning.

It’s also not your mother’s job or your father’s job, or your ….fill-in-the-blank’s….. job.

You are to find your beauty,  You are to own your beauty.  You are to claim your beauty.

Don’t you know that if you’re not feeling it in your own heart, on your own, by yourself, it doesn’t matter how many times he says it, how much he means it or how earnestly he professes it.  It might impact you for a minute or an hour or even a week… but as soon as someone else comes along and says something not so affirming, or insults something about you, down the rabbit hole you go.  You see if you make him your barometer and you need him to make you feel beautiful…then when it fades or he doesn’t say it, what do you have?

It’s up to you to say “Dang Girl” every time you look in the mirror.  No matter what you’re wearing, what time of day it is, how tired or hangry you are.  None of that will change how you feel when You see YOU!  Because you are beautiful through and through.

Lean in.  Look deep.  Release the doubt.  Your Beauty is YOURS.

Now go look in the mirror and give a shout out to your beautiful self.  Let the whole world hear you shout to the rooftops… “Dang Girl, YOU ARE beautiful.”

xoxo,

Your God-girl

TWSM NYX Eyeliner Review

Eyeliner is tricky. They run under your eyes giving you that “I just got dumped look” & takes some real effort to apply. I actually have to hold my breath while applying, My clients feel the pressure too. They focus so much on trying to hold their heads still so much they end up shaking out of concentration/nervousness.

The pencils are a soft glide but don’t really give you a neat application. Some liquid liners are so messy and sensitive.

I recently picked up the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Eye & Body Liquid Liner for $10 at Ulta, you can also find it at Target. I am really impressed with it! They carry this in several colors, Blue is my absolute favorite for a wing liner. She was easy to apply & has a brush applicator which I prefer over a felt tip liner a million times.

I was feeling super crappy a few days ago, so I figured wearing eyeliner would make me feel better about myself (I haven’t worn makeup in months-thank you COVID) I felt super cute but by the end of the day I was not feeling any better, I actually felt much worse and cried a lot for no reason at all. After having cried I realized my eyeliner was still intact. Win!

The product claims to last up to three days & I believe it….. Wouldn’t recommend keeping it on for more than a day but I believe it.

Let me know if you try this product or have a product you love! Catch you next time

Healthy Holiday Round Up Part 1

Healthy holiday roundup…

I am sure you’ve seen gift guide after gift guide this holiday season from your favorite bloggers. I don’t know about you but the gift guides can be super helpful when buying for that tricky person in your life or getting ideas for teachers, co-workers, and friends this season of giving.

Today I want to provide you with a healthy holiday roundup of some of my PERSONAL FAVORITE resources when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. I am by no means sharing this as a sponsored ad; everything I am sharing I am sharing freely because I genuinely LOVE the products/programs.

As we round out an utterly stressful, tragic year, I think we can all do ourselves a favor and bless ourselves and those around us with the GIFT OF HEALTH as we enter into 2021. If you’re anything like me, this year truly revealed the importance of being grounded in a healthy lifestyle- physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Below are just a few ideas and products that I love and that I think you will too….or will love to gift to someone you love this Christmas season.

Clean Beauty & Supplements:

Vital Proteins Collagen– I love this brand of collagen powder because it’s clean and packs in 18 grams of protein per serving. I will add it to tea or a smoothie. It’s tasteless and dissolves easily. Collagen is SO important for the health of our skin, hair, and joints.

Pink Stork– This brand is incredible in how they support women and women’s health. I take their fertility support supplement as well as drink some of their teas. They have supplements/vitamins for women in every stage of life. Their products are quality and the company is female-owned and everything is produced in the USA. So many wins! Use code ‘BFF10’ to receive 10% off your order!

Beauty Counter Clean Makeup & Skincare– I’ve been using Beauty Counter products for YEARS now and I continue to love them and share them with others. Some of my all time favorite products include their brightening facial oil, resurfacing peel, countercountrol pore cleanser, dew skin tinted moisturizer, luminous powder highlighter, and their twin skin concealer (AMAZING). You have to check this company out if you are looking for clean beauty products that have safe, natural ingredients.

See you next week when we will introduce Part 2-Healthy Programs & Fitness.

You’re Like A Firefly

You’re like a firefly.  Everywhere you go, you light up.  You shimmer and shine your goodness right where you are.  You don’t even TRY.  It’s natural.  Just like the firefly.  He didn’t wake up this morning and say “I hope I shine really really bright tonight”.  Nope.  He just IS.

That’s you.  Your smile, your energy your beauty.  It just IS.

I remember when I was a kid, my sister and I used to catch the fireflys in a jar.  It was cool chasing them around the yard, watching them through the glass as they would light up every few seconds and then waiting till morning to see what they would do.  The first time we caught some, that next day, we wondered what did they actually look like and would they still light up…..  and maybe they did but we just couldn’t see it because the sun was shining.  Every time we caught some, in the morning, we would release them.  They did not want to live in the jar, even though we put grass in the jar and poked holes in the lid.  They wanted to be free.  Free to fly.  Free to light up the night with their shimmer and shine.

Let us remember that we are like the firefly.  We do not let others thwart our life. We do not let others keep us in a jar with grass and breathing holes and think it’s an acceptable way to live.

Be free.  Free to glow and grow and sparkle.  Free to shimmer and shine and express our natural beauty.   Free with our own unique firefly life.  Make a difference as you travel through the days and nights shining your beauty and brightness on every one nearby.

Your God-girl

Beautiful You

Beautiful you…or is it Beauty Full you?  I’ll take both. Won’t you?  I am beautiful and I am beauty.  Full.  From the bottom of my feet to the top of my head.  It is there.  Thriving. Expressing. Living.

I can not will it away.  I can not wash it away.  I can not talk it away.  It is there, always has been and always will be.  Okay so it took a long time for me to understand it, embrace it and believe it.  And now it is who I am. Without question.

What about you?  Beauty is part of everyone from birth.  It resonates in our bones, our flesh, our mind.  It is part of who we are.  Whether we like it or not, it is in our DNA.

It’s what we do with it that either helps it grow or hinders it hibernate.  Just like a seed….it is going to be a plant.  When it is cared for and watered and given sunshine and protection from bad weather… it will be the plant it is meant to be.  A flower, or a tree or a vine or even a weed.  The seed will become.

And so will you.  When you are taken care of, drink plenty of water, take in healthy foods, get lots of sunshine and protected from evil… you will be the woman you were meant to be.  A teacher, or a manager or a clerk, or even a nurse.  You will become.

How amazing is that?!  To not have to wonder anymore if you are beautiful.  But to know.  Already… since day one, since breath one, heck….since the moment you were conceived you were beautiful.  You don’t have to do anything, you don’t have to act a certain way, you don’t have to dress a certain way.

You just are.  Oh BEAUTIFUL,   BEAUTY   FULL   YOU.

Your God Girl,

Tracy

What’s My Age Again?

Here I am again writing about my age, getting older and it’s impact, especially on our perception of beauty. One of the very first posts I wrote was on retrospect a kind of ranty post about how I have earned the right to be who I am as I age. This all started as it does because of an insomnia fueled evening spent too long on social media. Filters, crops, edits. Likes, loves. It got me thinking. As we get older is beauty really authentic or filtered. How do you define it? What does it look like? Feel like? What does beauty and aging mean?

Knowing I had a blog post due I asked.

The irony is as I have talked to others I wasn’t too far off from my original post.

Here are the amazing words of the people in my life:

“It equates denial.”

“It’s confidence, kindness. I’ve earned every wrinkle and silver strand of hair just by living life. I feel pretty lucky to be alive.”

“Being confident in who I am and who God made me to be. Aging is great when you realize through the years that those things that make you NOT look like everyone else, are the things that make you uniquely you, and that’s where true beauty is found.”

“I think we live in a pretty awesome time to be “aging” women. When I hit 40, I felt so much more free. And as I get closer to 50, I feel my most amazing, healthy, radiant, and yes beautiful. Now it’s about ME and I finally really, truly don’t care what people think. Plus we have some awesome role models.”

Beauty as you get older is truly relative. When people say it’s all about your attitude I’m here to say I think I finally get it.

At the end of the day whatever makes you happy, brings joy to your life, gives you that spark isn’t that what it’s really all about?

I truly look forward to more adventures. Hopefully becoming a Grandma. Even if it’s of the four legged variety. Beautiful silver hair like my Great Grandmother Mary had. Less makeup or more. Finding my favorite outfit and signature perfume.

Those are the legacies my Grandmothers gave me.

Either way.

Every wrinkle

Piece of hair glitter

They are our mile markers of a life lived.

Much love Mommas,

<3 Caprise
